Denim by PV Paris Report: denim trends autumn/winter 2014/15

DEUTSCH - ENGLISH

Vielleicht fehlt es da einfach an Know-how.

------------------------------------------------------------

It seems that the Autumn / Winter 2014-15 season is ready and the color is over. Many fabric manufacturers, some laundries, buyers and ephemera again took part in the Denim by PV.

The theme of the fair was "the circus Program" in the spirit of networking and a magical illusion of scientific precision. Nice to look at!

However, always I ask myself of whether Denim by PV is really the platform that determines denim trends. Designers oriented towards really just turn on the statements of the fabric manufacturer or laundries without to use their own fashion sense and to focus the real needs. Probably not, right?

In my opinion it is different opinions who promote individual exhibition form, such as the Sportswear International etc. and give signals about an upcoming trend.

>>> But why? Why not take a critical approach that really does not take more time than the 3 pages of coverage. On the contrary, it might even increase the level and could encourage some to think. Maybe they missed some know-how.

I think we are and we move exactly between what we actually need. The Denim by PV  is an attempt to uncover trends (without focus - whether material or read-to-use garment) and the Bread & Butter (to say I was there) a tool to announce market-related topics. But both fairs are probably not exactly what we need, but a really nice tool to meet each other. It must be experts in business. But do you really think that these experts just give their ideas ..?

The Denim by PV is not a bad denim exhibition, is a nice organization. But it is perhaps not what it should be. Everything takes time.

On the whole, the fair has not shown new wonder of the world. Logically, each exhibitor is only interested in the sale of its products.

Even if the theme was very magical, there was no magic to see.

Visible was only:
  • Fabric colored coating pants
  • Used-Jeans
  • Destroyed Jeans
  • Tinted Jeans
  • Dark clean Jeans
  • Towel bleach Jeans
  • Stiffner products to make natural scraping effects
  • and some handmade-eyecatcher (not ready for production)

Most material suppliers represented the functionality of their comfort jeans and only one exhibitor was referring to the Greenpeace campaign (DETOX). But I found the state of FUGA DENIM quite interesting. The fair was to much fabric focused for a denim washer.

Anyway, I do not want to go into much detail and just wanted to give you a little brief overview.

Let's see how it all developed.
